Bravo label started in 1957 as part of the Pickwick empire. Manufactured by Keel Manufacturing Corporation (K. M. Corporation) originally based in Freeport, Long Island, New York. Its record series started at number K-100, and ran to 158. From number 159, the label changed its name to International Award Series (1960), due to a conflict with another label, a European company, with the same name (BRAVO).

The backs of the albums gave no information about the material inside the jacket, not uncommon - print up lots of paste on ´backs´ - then print a plain front and put label stickers on them. The backs did give names and album numbers (KS, after 1959) of other Bravo issues. Very much on the cheap. Also we have not found any albums with liners.

The mono labels (K) and Stereo (KS) are similar, with the Mono in gold letters with nothing in the outer ring, on a black blackground. Stereo records are silver letters on a black background with the word "STEREO" on the outer ring and "Stereo" stamped on the jacket in gold.

A NOTE ABOUT HOW Pickwick did things: a pressing might sport one label, and the jacket would have another label or logo (from another of the Pickwick line) on it - everything, and we mean everything, else was the same. It was not uncommon for Pickwick to press older issues, then just throw into one of its jackets, since much of its older material were on 78s; masters from labels like Allegro, Elite, Concertone, Gramophone, Royale and Varsity, - repressed to 33 1/3 and issued. No matter if the platter was Hi-Fi or Stereo, or even put in the correct label/Jacket issue - it did not matter to them.

Also while the album jacket and label may have read "STEREO", it was hit or miss that the pressing was - in one such area, the jackets read ´that no damage would be done to equipment if played on Stereo/Hi-Fi/Mono,´ right, no damage to equipemnt - just keep alot of extra stylus around.
